O-PED (DRUGS ADDICTION)

A "drug", broadly speaking, is any substance that, when absorbed into the body of a living organism, alters normal bodily function.
In pharmacology, a drug is "a chemical substance used in the treatment, cure, prevention, or diagnosis of disease or used to otherwise enhance physical or mental well-being."Drugs may be prescribed for a limited duration, or on a regular basis for Chronic medicine\ chronic disorders.
Drug is thought to originate from Old French "drogue", possibly deriving later into "droge-vate" from Middle Dutch meaning "dry barrels", referring to medicinal plants preserved in them.

Drug addiction is a dependence on a street drug or a medication. When you're addicted, you may not be able to control your drug use and you may continue using the drug despite the harm it causes. Drug addiction can cause an intense craving for the drug. You may want to quit, but most people find they can't do it on their own.

Not everyone who uses drugs becomes addicted, but for many what starts as casual use leads to drug addiction. Drug addiction can cause serious, long-term consequences including problems with physical and mental health, relationships, employment and the law.

The path to drug addiction begins with that first act of taking drugs. Over time, a person may need more of the drug to get the same effect. Drug seeking becomes compulsive, in large part as a result of the effects of prolonged drug use on brain functioning and, thus, on behavior. Drug addiction makes drug use a compelling need, not a casual choice.

Although a number of government agencies officially recognize drug addiction as a dieases, there remains robust debate on this subject among the people who understand the human psychology best. A growing body of works suggests that addiction acts in much the same framework as everything else we do and feel, meaning it can be addressed with solid talk therapy. Perhaps that's why more people nowadays have begun looking into drug treatment programs that place an emphasis on true individualized care.

When the person uses the drugs it seems to handle their immediate problem. With continued use of the drug, the body’s ability to produce certain chemicals is diminished because these chemicals are replaced by the drug. The body uses the drug as a substitute for it’s own natural chemicals. Deprived of it’s own resources (and the ability to create them) the body perceives that it needs the drug to function and demands the drug, through physical cravings

The addict commits misdeeds against family, friends, and themselves to satisfy unrelenting cravings. These misdeeds include lying, stealing, cheating, anything to get the drugs to satisfy the drug cravings.Because of these misdeeds, The person is now entrapped in full blown drug addiction. Waiting won’t help a drug addict. No matter what they say, if they haven’t quit using drugs by now, they won’t, without help. Don’t wait.

  1. Hey, it is very knowledgeable post. If you use drugs for a long term then it can cause permanent mental and physical problems. Your personal life can also get destroyed. I also took my sister to the opiate detox norfolk center for her proper treatment which was life saver for her.
